5VR Submission Specification
1. Overview
This document defines the submission requirements for 5VR data contributors ("Operators"). It covers all requirements your recordings (each a "Recording" and collectively "Recordings") must meet to be accepted, and the consequences of repeated non-compliance.
Operators must review and comply with this specification before submitting any recordings through the 5VR app.
2. Recording Equipment
All Recordings must be captured using a head mount. The head mount must be worn on the head to ensure a genuine first-person (egocentric) perspective throughout the session.
Recordings made with handheld cameras, chest mounts, tripods, or any device not worn on the head will be rejected, excluding specific devices that 5VR separately approved in writing and in advance.
The head mount requirement exists because 5VR collects egocentric video data — the perspective of a person actively performing a task. Non-head-mounted footage cannot replicate this and is not usable for our AI training pipeline.
3. Technical Specifications
Recordings must meet the following technical requirements. Recordings that fall below these thresholds will be flagged and rejected.

4. Acceptance Criteria
A Recording is accepted when ALL of the following are true:
- Recorded with an approved head mount in a genuine first-person perspective
- The Operator is actively performing the specified task throughout the clip
- Meets all technical specifications set forth in this Submission Specification document
- Contains no PII or identifiable personal information
- No other people appear in the footage
- Real-world footage only — not animation, CGI, screen recordings, or AI-generated content
- No post-production edits, added blur, overlays, or subtitles
- Camera motion is natural and consistent with the task being performed

- Not a duplicate of a previously submitted Recording
5VR reserves the right to reject any Recordings at its sole discretion.
5. Safety Requirements
Operators are solely responsible for their own safety during all recording sessions. Fiverr does not supervise recording environments and accepts no liability for injury, accident, or harm arising from a recording session.
5.1 Fitness to Record
Do not begin a recording session if you are:
- Ill, injured, or in physical discomfort that may affect your ability to perform tasks safely
- Fatigued to a degree that impairs your coordination or attention
- Under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, or any medication that affects alertness or physical performance
You are solely responsible for recognizing conditions that warrant declining or stopping a session and for seeking appropriate medical or other advice if needed. 5VR does not monitor or review operators for any such conditions.
5.2 Prohibited Recording Situations
Do not record in the following situations unless the active task card explicitly authorizes it or Fiverrhas approved it in writing in advance:
- Operating any motor vehicle, including cars, motorcycles, scooters, or bicycles
- Operating heavy machinery, forklifts, cranes, or powered industrial equipment
- Using power tools (e.g. circular saws, angle grinders, drills)
- Working at height
- In any environment where wearing a head mount restricts the field of vision required for safety
When a task card authorizes recording in one of the above environments, Operators must follow all applicable site safety rules and wear any required personal protective equipment (PPE) in addition to the head mount. The head mount does not substitute for required safety gear.
Recordings captured in unauthorized situations will be rejected and may result in immediate account suspension.
5.3 Environment Safety
Before starting a session, inspect your recording environment and confirm it is free from foreseeable hazards. Specific guidance by task type:
- Kitchen & cooking tasks: Ensure all appliances are stable and supervised. Do not leave open flames or active heat sources unattended while adjusting the head mount.
- Cleaning & household tasks: Secure loose rugs, cables, or liquids on floors before beginning. Do not use the head mount near water in a way that creates electrical risk.
- Trades & construction tasks: Follow all applicable site safety rules and wear required PPE in addition to the head mount.
- Automotive tasks: Ensure vehicles are stationary, in park, and with the engine off unless the task card specifically requires otherwise.
5.4 Head Mount & Equipment Safety
- Ensure the head mount is securely fitted and will not shift or fall during the session before you begin.
- Do not adjust, remove, or reposition the head mount while near moving machinery, open flames, or other active hazards.
- Secure any cables or straps from the head mount so they do not create trip hazards or get caught in moving parts.
- If the head mount obstructs your vision or balance in a way that creates risk, stop the session and contact support before continuing.
5.5 Third-Party Safety
- Do not conduct recording sessions in environments where your activity, or the presence of the head mount, may create risk for other people nearby.
- If another person enters your recording environment and their presence creates a safety concern, stop recording immediately.
- Under no circumstances may you record in environments accessible to children under 18 unless the task card explicitly states the environment has been cleared.
5.6 When to Stop
Stop recording immediately and remove yourself from the situation if:
- You feel unsafe or unwell at any point during the session
- You experience pain, dizziness, disorientation, stress, or any other condition that makes continued participation unsafe
- An unexpected hazard arises in your environment
- Another person enters the frame (see Section 6.2)
- An emergency — medical, fire, or otherwise — occurs
A stopped session does not count as a rejection. You may re-record from a safe environment once the situation has resolved.
6. Privacy & Content Restrictions
6.1 No PII
Do not upload Recordings that contain any Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
PII includes anything that could identify a specific person, such as: full names, ID numbers and documents, driver's license details, financial account details, addresses, login credentials, medical information, photographs, facial images, body silhouettes or shadows from which a person may be identified, biometric data, voice recordings, credit card numbers, location data, IP addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other information that, alone or in combination, could reasonably be used to identify an individual. If PII appears in your footage by accident, do not submit — delete the Recording and re-record.
6.2 No Recording of People
Do not record yourself (your face or identifying features) or any other person.
Specifically:
- Avoid mirrors, reflective surfaces, and camera inversions that could capture your face.
- If another person enters your frame unexpectedly, stop recording immediately.
- Under no circumstances may you record anyone under 18 years of age.
6.3 Prohibited Content
Recordings must not contain:
- NSFW, explicit, or inappropriate content
- PII (names, identification numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, financial information, health or medical information, biometric data, facial features, license plates, or any other information that may directly or indirectly identify any individual)

7. Temporal & Geographic Parameters
7.1 Geographic Eligibility
✦ Recordings must be made within an approved geographic region as specified in the active task card. Submitting from an ineligible region will result in rejection. 7.2 Recording Time Windows

8. Data Quality Standards
All Recordings undergo automated and manual quality review. Recordings that fail are flagged with one or more rejection codes. Knowing these codes helps you avoid common failures.
8.1 Overall Quality

8.6 Visual Artifacts (vlm_artifacts)
Visual artifacts were detected in the data. The camera and lens may have defects, smudges, or glitches. The sub-types below specify the particular artifact.

9. Rejection Threshold & Account Standing
Repeated rejections affect your account standing. The thresholds below define when warnings and blocks are triggered based on your rejection rate over a rolling period.
9.1 Warning
✦ If your rejection rate exceeds 30% of Recordings in any rolling 30-day window, you will receive an in-app warning. Your account remains active. [cross-check threshold]
9.2 Suspension
✦ If your rejection rate exceeds 50% in any rolling 30-day window, your account will be suspended pending review. You will receive an email detailing the rejection reasons. [cross-check threshold and appeal process]
9.3 Permanent Block
Accounts suspended twice within a 90-day period, or whose rejection rate exceeds 70% in any rolling 30-day window, will be permanently blocked.
Permanent blocks are also applied immediately — without prior warning — for:
- Recordings of NSFW content
- Recording or uploading PII or images of other people
- Submitting recycled, AI-generated, or synthetic footage as original content
9.4 Rejected Recordings & Earnings
Rejected Recordings do not count toward earnings. No compensation is paid for any Recording that fails to meet the requirements of this document.
